Strike of a wooden disk

The custom of striking a wooden disk is carried out on the first Sunday of Lent. First a round disc of wood with a hole in the middle is transfixed on a branch. Then the disc is held into the fire until it is glowing.

Afterwards it is taken out and tossed away through the dark night. The people watch the shiny piece of wood disappearing in the night. While this custom is carried out ancient rhymes are repeated.
